Our Wessex family of schools

Year 2

RE - Judaism Celebrating Rosh Hashanah

In our RE learning about Judaism, we learnt that It is traditional for some Jewish people to celebrate the New Year by dipping apples in honey to hope for a sweet year ahead. We went to the forest school area to pick our own apples. Then we dipped them in honey and made our own prayers for a sweet new year in Year 2.

Bird Watching in Science

As part of our science curriculum, learning about living things, we went outside to see how many birds we could spot. We did see some birds -  mainly crows and pigeons. We talked about the types of food birds like to eat and thought about how we could improve the habitats in the school grounds to attract more birds.

Relax Kids

Year 2 are very lucky to have Sian from Relax Kids coming to visit every Tuesday afternoon for this half term. During our sessions with her we learn how to relax our bodies through different exercises and breathing activities. This week we worked on a variety of stretches and also about how massage can help us relax. We always end the session with soothing music and become so calm we nearly fall asleep!
