May Day - May 2024
On an afternoon at the end of May, we held our annual May Day. This included each class dancing at least 2 traditional dances as well as dances for family members to join in with too.

It was a great privilege for Frome Valley First School to be part of the Dorchester Schools Miles for Mosaic fundraising event. Many schools in the Dorchester area have used the services of the charity Mosaic to support children in their school with bereavement. Overall, 13 schools supported this event.
As part of our equality plan for 2022-2026, we wanted to focus on neurodiversity with our pupils to increase their understanding of this. We spent two days this academic year thinking about neurodiversity.
On Thursday 14th March, eight Year 3 and Year 4 children took part in a tag rugby festival at Dorchester Rugby Club alongside other schools from the Weymouth and Dorchester area.

To celebrate World Book Day, all the children came to school dressed in their favourite book character.
As part of our Sports Funding, we arranged for our children to experience skateboarding and scooter lessons. The children were very excited!

Every academic year, we hold two special school weeks when we are off timetable and immersed in a particular subject or theme. This year, it was all things science!

The school took part in the annual Christingle Service at St Aldhelm Church on 8th December 2023.

Our annual Carols By Candlelight service took place on the 7th December 2023.
At the end of October, three Year 3s and three Year 4s took part in a multi-skills festival held at Sunninghill School.
The whole school spent an excellent week off timetable as we focused on all things musical!

As part of the Dorchester Schools Literacy Festival, Year 1 & 2 visited Thomas Hardye School to hear from the author and illustrator Neal Layton. This was an exciting opportunity to hear from Neal Layton about the process of writing and illustrating a children's picture book.
